Jamie Shepherdson
Jamie Shepherdson is Executive Vice President of AXA Equitable Life Insurance Company and a member of the company's Executive Management Committee. He is also President of AXA Distributors, LLC, the company's wholesale distribution organization.
Mr. Shepherdson's 2005 appointment as President of AXA Distributors marked a return to the company's wholesale organization, which he co-founded in 1996, building the foundation for AXA Equitable to become the No. 1 seller of variable annuities in the United States in 2007. *
As head of AXA Distributors, Mr. Shepherdson directs wholesale distribution, administration and service toward the execution of its mission to be an industry leader in the distribution of proprietary life insurance and annuity products through financial intermediaries such as wirehouses, financial institutions, independent financial planners, brokerage general agencies, personal producing general agents, as well as the company's retail distribution organization, AXA Advisors, LLC. AXA Distributors markets these products to in excess of 100,000 registered representatives in those various channels.
Mr. Shepherdson also heads AXA Equitable's Global Sub-Advisory Group which includes the Funds Management Group which is responsible for the company's separate account investment platform.
Mr. Shepherdson has held a number of leadership roles in the insurance industry with a significant focus on building and managing third-party distribution organizations. During his first tenure with AXA, he served as senior vice president and co-managing director of Equitable Distributors, Inc., the predecessor of AXA Distributors.
In 2000 Mr. Shepherdson left AXA to become co-CEO of MetLife Investors Group, where he was responsible for the design, manufacture and distribution of life insurance and annuity products sold through third-party channels.
From 2000 to 2005, Mr. Shepherdson served as CEO of John Hancock Funds, leading that organization through a period of transformation and growth following the completion of the John Hancock Financial Services - Manulife Financial merger.
A native of California, Mr. Shepherdson earned both a B.S. in Business Administration and an M.B.A. with an emphasis in Finance at the University of Southern California.
