Benefits and Features
Through EQUI-VEST® Vantagesm ABP 401(a) and EQUI-VEST® Vantagesm ACTS 403(b), you will
have access to many features that can help you manage your retirement account. Here is a brief outline.
Investment Simplifier
The Investment Simplifier allows you to automatically diversify your retirement funds for growth potential in two
ways:
- Interest Sweep Option
One way is to have interest transferred from the Guaranteed Interest Option into any of the variable
investment options you choose. You can sweep only the interest from the Guaranteed Interest Option into growth-oriented investment
options, leaving the principal secure. This can give you the best of both worlds — the security of knowing
your principal is preserved, while your interest has market performance potential. A minimum balance of
$7,500 must be maintained in the Guaranteed Interest Option for the monthly sweep. Interest swept may be greater than interest
accrued if you withdraw or transfer funds out of the Guaranteed Interest Option during the month.
- Fixed Dollar Option
Another way to automatically diversify is to have a fixed dollar amount transferred from the Guaranteed Interest Option to
the variable investment options over time. A minimum account balance of $5,000 is required to be in the
Guaranteed Interest Option to elect this feature. You can put all of your savings into the Guaranteed
Interest Option, then transfer a specified portion into any or all of the variable investment options
over time. Tell us how much, where, for how long — we will do the rest every month.
The Investment Simplifier helps to eliminate the guesswork involved in deciding when to make transfers, but it does
not guarantee a profit or protect against loss in a declining market. Since this strategy involves
continuous investment regardless of fluctuating price levels, you should consider your financial ability
to continue purchases through periods of low price levels.
Asset Rebalancing
A feature where we will rebalance your assets in the variable investment options automatically on a quarterly,
semiannual or annual basis — and send you a written confirmation each time it is done. Your assets are
reallocated back to the original percentages you selected. A minimum account balance of $5,000 must be in
the variable investment options to elect this feature. Rebalancing does not assure you a profit or
protect you from loss, but it does guarantee that your allocations will stay in line with
the strategies you select. If you choose this option, you’re then free to change the allocation of
your rebalanced assets whenever you like. You can also stop or change this option at any time.
