You have 120 days to choose in which of the retirement programs offered by your employer you will enroll. The 120-day period usually starts on your date of hire or the date you transfer to an eligible position. If you do NOT elect a retirement program within 120 days, you will automatically be enrolled in the state retirement system for which you are eligible. Check with your human resources department for more information. Your decision is irrevocable. Once you have been enrolled in a retirement program, you must remain with that system while you are employed by your current employer.
