The Ohio Alternative Retirement Program —
Another Choice for Your Retirement Contributions
In the state of Ohio, eligible academic and administrative employees of public institutions of higher education who are covered under the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), School Employees Retirement System (SERS), or State Teachers Retirement System (STRS) may choose not to participate in the state retirement system and enroll in the Ohio Alternative Retirement Program (ARP) instead.
The Ohio ARP is a 401(a) defined contribution plan offered by private vendors that have been designated by the Ohio Department of Insurance. Through the ARP, eligible employers may offer annuity contracts as funding vehicles for employees participating in the plan.
The amount you contribute to the 401(a) plan must be the same as if you were contributing to the corresponding public retirement system. The employer contribution varies by employer.
After reviewing your choices, you may find that the flexibility, portability, and other options offered by the ARP fit best with your retirement savings strategy.
Momentum PlusSM is AXA Equitable’s group variable deferred annuity for the Ohio Alternative Retirement Program (ARP). It offers you a way to help build, enhance, and protect your retirement assets.
Before you can take advantage of the ARP and Momentum PlusSM, you must enroll, and you must enroll within 120 days of your eligibility date.
For more than a century, AXA Equitable has been one of the nation’s leading providers of financial products, helping millions of customers work towards addressing their retirement goals.
