Employee Retirement Plan - AXA Equitable

Find Employee Retirement Plan Resources

An employee retirement plan is a powerful vehicle to help employees build savings for retirement and for employers to attract and retain quality employees. Among the common employee retirement plan options are a 401(k) for certain businesses, a 403(b) for educational institutions and certain non-profits, and a 457 plan for governmental and certain non-governmental organizations.

Contributions to an employee retirement plan are typically made in pre-tax dollars and are invested in a variety of investment products. Investment earnings are not taxed until the time of qualified withdrawals, allowing savings to potentially build more quickly.

Employees and employers alike frequently have many questions about an employee retirement plan, and AXA-Equitable.com offers a wealth of helpful information.

Variable deferred annuities are long-term financial products designed for retirement purposes. In essence, annuities are contractual agreements in which payment(s) are made to an insurance company, which agrees to pay out an income or a lump sum amount at a later date.  Its account values can be invested in a variety of investment options, including stock and bond investment options. The value of the annuity varies with the investment performance of the underlying investment portfolios. A variable annuity is not meant for short-term investment goals. There are contract limitations and fees and charges associated with annuities, which include, but are not limited to, mortality and expense risk charges, sales and surrender charges, administrative fees, and charges for optional benefits. A financial professional can provide cost information and complete details.  Certain types of contracts, features and benefits may not be available in all jurisdictions.

Variable subaccounts within variable annuities fluctuate with changes in market conditions. When surrendered, the principal may be worth more or less than the original amount invested.

An annuity contract, when purchased to fund a qualified retirement plan should be considered for the annuity’s features and benefits other than tax deferral.  For such cases, tax deferral is not an additional benefit for the annuity.  You may also want to consider the relative features, benefits, and costs of this annuity with any other investment that you may have in connection with your retirement plan or arrangement.

Withdrawals from retirement products (e.g., 401(k)s, 403(b)s, 457 annuities) are subject to normal income tax treatment and, if taken prior to age 59 ½, may be subject to an additional 10% federal income tax penalty. Withdrawals from annuities may also be subject to a contractual withdrawal charge.

Guarantees are based on the claims-paying ability of the issuing insurance company.

Guarantees do not apply to performance of portfolios in the separate account.

Please consider the charges, risks, expenses, and investment objectives carefully before purchasing a variable annuity. For a prospectus containing this and other information about the variable annuity, underlying investments and any applicable supplements, please contact a financial professional.  Read the prospectus carefully before you invest or send money.
