Retirement Savings - AXA Equitable |
What are some of the strategies that can help you avoid outliving your retirement savings?
When it comes to retirement, outliving retirement savings is one of the chief concerns. If you’re worried about having enough money in your later years, consider how annuities can help you with your savings for retirement. Annuities are long-term financial products designed for retirement purposes. In essence, annuities are contractual agreements in which payment(s) are made to an insurance company, which agrees to pay out an income or a lump sum amount at a later date. There are contract limitations and fees and charges associated with annuities, which include, but are not limited to, mortality and expense risk charges, sales and surrender charges, administrative fees, and charges for optional benefits. An annuity that offers defined growth of principal and interest is called a fixed annuity, while a product that provides the opportunity for market appreciation through a variety of investment options and also carries more risk is called a variable annuity.

AXA Equitable is a leading life insurance company and provider of annuities that may help you with your retirement savings. AXA Equitable offers two new annuity products designed to help grow your retirement savings while also offering ways to help protect your savings against the risks of down markets.
- Retirement Cornerstone®, a variable annuity product, features two accounts within the same investing platform. The Investment Performance Account offers the opportunity for growth and performance, while the Protection with Investment Performance Account offers the ability to help protect your retirement savings and, for an additional cost, can provide guaranteed future income(subject to income restrictions and age limitations). Guarantees are based on the claims-paying ability of the issuing insurance company. For complete product information, please click here.
- Structured Capital StrategiesSM is a variable annuity product that allows you to participate in up market appreciation up to a specified cap while guarding against some down market risk. The cap may limit your potential in up markets. Investment options track indices in global, domestic and commodities markets, while a Segment Buffer will absorb up to –10, -20 or -30 percent of your losses, depending on your investment options. While you are protected from some downside risk, if the negative return is in excess of the protection offered by this product, there is a risk of a substantial loss of your principal. Investment options with greater protection tend to have lower performance cap rates than other investment options that use the same index and duration but provide less protection. AXA Equitable also offers a variety of other products to help build your retirement savings, including:
- Additional annuities including fixed, immediate and variable annuities like the Accumulator® variable annuity series.
- Life insurance, including whole, universal, variable and term life insurance products. Life insurance benefits can play a significant role in protecting your retirement savings and ensuring your family’s financial future.
Ask your financial professional about other AXA Equitable products that can help you keep pace with interest rates and inflation, as well as products for 403(b) and 401(k) plans for small businesses.

Variable annuity subaccounts fluctuate with changes in market conditions. When surrendered, the principal may be worth more or less than the original amount invested. The guarantees available with variable annuities do not apply to the investment portfolios.
Withdrawals from annuities are subject to normal income tax treatment and if taken prior to age 59 ½ may be subject to an additional 10% federal income tax penalty. Withdrawals may also be subject to a contractual withdrawal charge.
Please consider the charges, risks, expenses, and investment objectives carefully before purchasing a variable annuity. For a prospectus containing this and other information, please contact a financial professional. Read it carefully before you invest or send money.
AXA Equitable may discontinue contributions and transfers among investment options or make other changes in contribution and transfer requirements and limitations.
